During a mental breakdown from postpartum depression, a mother abandons her baby and husband with plans to end her own life. On the way to her final destination she picks up a mysterious hitchhiker who helps her decide whether to live or die. Based on the feature film script, “Lady Lazarus.”
“Lady Lazarus, from the very beginning creates such a dark and tense mood, setting up an unsettling atmosphere. For most of the film, it lets the visual storytelling direct the story, with Eve’s highly emotional performance leading us in that direction. The audio and edits throughout the film, all help put the audience in the head space of Eve’s emotional state. The jump-cuts, the quick second of black, the droning audio cues, every aspect of the film crafts this engaging vessel for the audience to get an understanding of what Eve feels.”
